Costa Rica is one of our favourite destinations. This Central American country brings together almost all the qualities of the perfect trip. It brings together adventure, exotic and wild nature, tropical beaches and culture. It is one of the most biodiverse places in the world, home to 5% of the world's known species. It is a stable and safe country, with a developed economy and friendly people. In addition, Costa Rica is one of the most advanced, open and tolerant countries in Latin America towards homosexuality. Since the end of May 2020, same-sex couples can now marry in the country and have the same rights as everyone else. It has a very intense gay life, which you can get to know and enjoy when you are there: bars, clubs, hotels and other places where you will be very welcome.
Costa Rica offers its visitors numerous possibilities, both in terms of where to go and how to get there. National parks, beaches, volcanoes, the Caribbean, the Pacific.... We have created two very popular itineraries with added extensions although, depending on your particular tastes and needs, they can be modulated in any other way.
Day 1 / Origin – San José
Welcome to green Costa Rica!
First, we head to our selected hotel, where you will spend 2 nights. Spend the rest of the day by the pool, or take a taxi to the centre of San José and explore the city. If you arrive early there are many optional activities we can suggest.
Day 2 / San Jose
Some of our recommendations are the amazing half day tour to the Poas Volcano or the beautiful La Paz Waterfalls excursion. San José is the hub for many destinations, so it is the perfect place to start many day trips. Other excellent options are the Irazú Volcano, the Orosi Valley or the full day Isla Tortuga Tour. Another option is to simply relax by the pool, as you’ll need all your energy when you head out to explore San Jose’s local gay scene.
Day 3 / Manuel Antonio
We head to the Pacific, to Manuel Antonio National Park and its beautiful beaches. There’s even a secluded gay beach hideaway that the locals have sectioned off with flags especially for you. We will pick you up from your hotel in San Jose and take you directly to the hotel in Manuel Antonio. The gay hotel Villa Roca is located on top of the hill and has incredible ocean views. It would be a great choice. And if you wish, you can add more nights.
Day 4 / Manuel Antonio
We pick you up from your hotel and take you on a sailing and snorkelling excursion, one of the best ways to see the area above and below the water. Spend the rest of your day exploring the town, the beautiful beaches or just relaxing by the pool.
Day 5 / Manuel Antonio
Today you will embark on an incredible guided tour of the world famous Manuel Antonio National Park. A highly recommended experience, as the guides will explain the wildlife. In addition, the beaches are rated as some of the best in the world. You can also choose to relax by the pool or on the beach.
Day 6 / Manuel Antonio – Home
Transfer to San José for the return journey home. If it is too short we can add more nights, one of the extensions or try the other itinerary.

Day 5 / Manuel Antonio
Today you can relax at the pool or beach. If you prefer, we recommend a guided tour of the park, the guides will explain its abundant wildlife.
Day 6 / Arenal Volcano
Travel by minibus to Arenal, where you will spend two nights. In the evening, you will be picked up from your hotel for a tour of the volcano and then on to the famous Springs Resort, Hot Springs and Spa, where you can enjoy the resort’s various pools and services.
Enjoy a delicious dinner while enjoying an excellent view of the volcano.
Day 7 / Arenal Volcano
Today you have a free day to explore the area on your own, take a visit to Lake Arenal, or add a half-day horseback ride to Arenal Waterfall.
Other good options include the Losta Canyon Canyoning tour and the exciting Sky River Drift or Sky Trek and Tram.
Day 8 / Arenal Volcano – Puerto Viejo
Get ready for the most exciting time you’ve ever had on the water with Whitewater Rafting, on the famous Pacuare River into the Caribbean. We’ll pick you up early from your hotel to set off on a full day adventure on Costa Rica’s most popular river. You will start with a hearty breakfast at the rafting centre. Luggage is stored in a locked locker. It’s a full day trip down this beautiful and exhilarating river. Lunch is included. At the end of the day, transfer to Puerto Viejo, on the pristine Caribbean coast of Costa Rica, for a 2-night stay. Additional nights can be added if you wish to stay longer. Puerto Viejo is located on the Caribbean coast, a charming and colourful town flanked by magnificent pristine beaches. You can take many fun and exciting excursions or rent a bike and explore the area on your own.
Day 9 / Cahuita
Choose one of our popular tours such as the new Caribbean chocolate and historical trail on Mondays, the Cahuita National Park hike and waterfall tour on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the animal rescue centre and Punta Uva on Wednesdays and Fridays, or the Manzanillo reserve and monkey trail on Saturdays.
Day 10 / Cahuita – San José
Transfer to San José by minibus and rest of the day free for last visits or shopping.
Day 11 / San José – Home

Manuel Antonio

Puerto Viejo
Small boutique hotel created with care, using local produce and a philosophy that emphasises relaxation. Blooming gardens adorn the property, as do several hammocks, as well as a meandering pond inhabited by fish and turtles. There is a restaurant, bar, swimming pool and beach club. Most rooms are on the first floor of the main building and open onto a large terrace overlooking the sea and garden.
