Madrid will host the 26th edition of LesGaiCineMad from November 3rd to 14th. The festival, which has been recognized on numerous occasions as one of the most important LGBTQ+ themed film competitions, is structured this time around the motto Focusing on the future.
LesGaiCineMad is one of the festivals with the largest audience in the Community of Madrid and one of the most covered by the Spanish press after San Sebastián, Valladolid and Sitges ones. Not surprisingly, the contest has become a window for LGBTQ+ cinema in Spain: during its 25-year history, it has screened more than a hundred titles that otherwise could not have been seen in commercial theaters.
LesGaiCineMad has three competitive sections: one dedicated to feature films, one dedicated toshort films and the last one dedicated to documentaries. The winners of each category are chosen by the public that attends the screenings; since 2003, there’s algo a Jury Awards which recognize cultural, aesthetic and social things.
In this 26th edition we will be able to see works such as Camila saldrá esta noche by Inés Barrionueva, Finlandia by Horacio Alcalá, Sedimientos by Adrián Silvestre, Your Mother’s Comfort by Adam Golub, LA Queenceañera by Pedro Peira, L’acrobate by Rodrigue Jean, Tengo miedo torero by Rodrigo Sepúlveda or El Fantasma de la Sauna by Luis Navarrete.
The program also includes parallel activities such as conferences, press conferences or parties. Be fast and do not run out of tickets!
